The City of Clearwater is seeking a professional experienced in fundraising, sponsorships and marketing to assist in coordinating and managing a wide variety of strategies associated with the development and retention of sponsors for various citywide special events and concerts, athletic tourism competitions, and general park management events.  Selected candidate will work under general direction of a recreation coordinator, with wide latitude for independent judgment in developing and implementing policies and guidelines for sponsorship opportunities, ribbon-cutting ceremonies, grand openings, and other marketing events.

Position will require candidates to work a varied schedule, which may include evenings, weekends and holidays.

 Duties and Responsibilities:

Typical duties may include: develops and implements a strategic plan to increase sponsorships for Parks and Recreation events; creates individual and corporate sponsorship packages and materials, including letters, proposals, budgets, guidelines; identifies and researches sponsorships and funding opportunities; creates and maintains effective relationships with prospective donors, sponsors, partners, etc.; develops community participation and interest in activities and events through an active public relations/marketing program; coordinates city ribbon-cutting and/or grand opening events for various city departments; assists recreation center supervisors with marketing and promotion of programs and services through contact with interested groups, the general public, media and sponsors; prepares analytical reports, monitors revenue and expenditures, and evaluates effectiveness of sponsorship events.. 

 Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Education, Business, Marketing or similar area and at least one (1) year of experience in fundraising, sponsorship, public relations, promotional advertising or marketing, specifically within the recreation and/or special events fields.  More than 3 years of applicable experience is preferred.  An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be accepted in lieu of the degree.
