Senior Special Events Manager - Florida International University

Execute college wide events as well as donor stewardship activities that have a direct impact upon fundraising for the College of Business.

  • Works closely with the associate director on direction of all events assigned to the events team.
  • Oversees all aspects of internal and external events as assigned for the College of Business.
  • Manages a timeline of tasks and detailed logistics with deadlines, for all college related on and off campus events.
  • Drive negotiations and project management of critical events and deliver flawless event plans.
  • Manages all event budgets.
  • Maintains positive working relationships with key personnel who manage all facilities used for events.
  • Provides direction and unit assistance for all marketing collateral design and promotion related to college events with the Associate Director and Office of Marketing and Communications. Works in collaboration with the division of External Relations on all collateral material and advertising.
  • Manages social media strategy along with Office of Marketing and Communications for all COB related events.
  • Consistently assesses opportunities for improvement.
  • Mentor and coach

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree in an appropriate specialization; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate specialization and two years of experience.


Starting at $50,000.00 and commensurate with experience.

Other requirements:

Ability to work flexible hours as needed.
Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends and at locations outside of the University.

Marketing Coordinator, New Position

The candidate will be accountable for sponsor/partner development for Art Center events, coordinate social media, website, and advertising and press to enhance the organizations visibility, have the ability to collaborate and work as a team with other staff members and board of directors.

GENERAL DUTIES: Responsible for timely distribution of press releases.  Maintain Website and keep it current. Use Social Media to promote Art Center. Coordinate with other community groups to insure MDCA’s participation in community events. Maintain press database. Identify additional outreach opportunities to increase MDCA’s public exposure. Actively seek sponsors for MDCA events. Working with the marketing committee and other staff, design and oversee production of printed materials associated with all programming of MDCA, including: Arts Festival, Exhibits, Education, Membership and Outreach.

  • Attend other MDCA committee meetings as appropriate.
  • Attend Board Meetings.
  • Assist in the general efficiency of the MDCA office, including answering phones, registering students for classes, assisting as back-up to other staff as needed. 
  • Create reports as requested.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Reporting to the Executive Committee and working with the Board of Trustees to fulfill the mission and vision of the organization.
  • Work within the budget constraints of the current fiscal year.

Art Festival

 Serve as co-chair to the Annual Arts Festival.  Work with festival committees to produce an outstanding annual arts festival. Continue to improve overall quality of show. Media sponsor liaison for newspaper, radio and television coverage for annual event. Process all necessary applications and permits for event.
