The Boynton Beach Community Redevelopment Agency is currently accepting applications for the position of Marketing, Events and Economic Development Assistant.

The general duties include:

Assist the Executive Director in developing and implementing key economic development programs and events that benefit business owners in the CRA District.  Assist the Business Development Specialist in implementing marketing efforts and programs.  Assist the Special Events Director in planning, organizing, developing and executing events for the Boynton Beach CRA that promote the businesses and redevelopment of the CRA.

Position Description: CRA Paid Marketing Internship SUMMARY: Under supervision of the CRA Marketing and/or Communications Directors, this position assists under general direction, to aid with the marketing and brand development and management of the retail business districts and commercial areas to continue the development of vibrant, exciting destinations for local residents and visitors in the city of Pompano Beach, CRA areas.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following tasks, knowledge skills, and other characteristics. This list is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY, and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by incumbents of this class.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Which are not in any hierarchical order)

1. Assists with the marketing and management efforts within the CRA districts with a focus on promoting the retail business districts and commercial areas within the redevelopment area to create vibrant, exciting destinations for local residents and visitors.

2. Assists in coordination and execution of special events and promotions to attract pedestrian traffic to the area and will also promote business development and other business support activities including drafting press releases.

3. Assists with the distribution of collateral materials (printed and other forms), web site postings and updates, newsletters, flyers, etc.

4. Data entry of contact information into a database and other data entry responsibilities as assigned.

5. Assists in the promotion of the Community Redevelopment Agency incentive programs and assist with business attraction efforts.

6. Assists in coordinating with area merchants and merchant associations to build cross promotional events, identify promotional opportunities and maintain communications.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: ¿ Knowledge of computer programs and applications for outreach including multimedia forums, constant contact or equivalent, social networks, Facebook, twitter, e blasts. ¿ Preferred skills include proficiency at Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. Required proficiency in Microsoft Office, and general graphic design skills and database software. ¿ Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. ¿ Energetic and enthusiastic and willing to engage merchants and business owners in the process of redevelopment. ¿ Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, peers, and the media. ¿ Skill in the operation and maintenance of a wide variety of audiovisual equipment, including cameras, projectors, tape recorders, record players and video recorders. ¿ Skills in making visual presentations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work involves sedentary to light work in an office setting, out in the community or at project locations. There is occasional needs to stand, stoop, walk, sit, lift objects (up to 25 pounds) and perform similar other actions during the course of the workday. The City of Pompano Beach promotes a drug/alcohol free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Must have college level coursework in Marketing or Public Relations and be available to work a flexible schedule including Saturday.
