Bloomingdale’s Public Relations / Events Manager

Responsibility: Bloomingdale’s AVENTURA and MIAMI AT THE FALLS stores

Key Accountabilities

  • Manage and coordinate all aspects of in-store event planning and execution for Bloomingdale’s Aventura and Miami the Falls store locations
  • Develop community relations strategy involving charitable giving, in-kind donations and in-store special events
  • Enhance the brand by securing event sponsorships, co-branding opportunities and involvement in community initiatives.
  • Manage public relations budget and administrative duties
  • Develop and execute media plan and secure publicity
  • Schedule includes some evenings and weekends to oversee events

Skills Summary

  • Must have at minimum of 6-8 years training and experience within a public relations, marketing, and/or special events environment
  • Proven leadership within a high-profile branded company
  • Retail and/or fashion background a plus
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills necessary
  • Knowledge of Miami and South Florida community
  • Knowledge of Miami and South Florida press
  • Independent worker, self-initiative/self-starter, resourceful and a problem solver
  • Proven ability to build strategic alliances/relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to build successful event strategies that achieve goals
  • Highly organized, detailed and thorough, creative and motivated, ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities
  • 4-year degree in public relations, communications, marketing or journalism required

Senior Special Events Manager - Florida International University

Execute college wide events as well as donor stewardship activities that have a direct impact upon fundraising for the College of Business.

  • Works closely with the associate director on direction of all events assigned to the events team.
  • Oversees all aspects of internal and external events as assigned for the College of Business.
  • Manages a timeline of tasks and detailed logistics with deadlines, for all college related on and off campus events.
  • Drive negotiations and project management of critical events and deliver flawless event plans.
  • Manages all event budgets.
  • Maintains positive working relationships with key personnel who manage all facilities used for events.
  • Provides direction and unit assistance for all marketing collateral design and promotion related to college events with the Associate Director and Office of Marketing and Communications. Works in collaboration with the division of External Relations on all collateral material and advertising.
  • Manages social media strategy along with Office of Marketing and Communications for all COB related events.
  • Consistently assesses opportunities for improvement.
  • Mentor and coach

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree in an appropriate specialization; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate specialization and two years of experience.


Starting at $50,000.00 and commensurate with experience.

Other requirements:

Ability to work flexible hours as needed.
Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends and at locations outside of the University.
