Jim Shanklin, Executive VP, Festival Transaction Services, Inc.


Jim Shanklin founded Festivals.com in 1995, creating an opportunity for local community events to reach the rapidly growing Internet global audience by listing their events for free. By 2001, Festivals.com was the Number One search return for the keyword, “festivals” and “festival,” on all major search engines, where it remains today.

The aggregation of events totals 23,000 US and 25,000 international events, reaching some 800 million aggregated visits to community fairs, festivals and special events. Today, Festivals.com is the event resource for Festival Transaction Services, Inc., which helps community events become cashless through its prepaid card integrated service in partnership with Visa®, using Visa-branded prepaid cards, and introducing a new sponsorship avenue to community events.  

Mr. Shanklin has 32 years of experience in the advertising agency business, holding senior management positions at several Pacific Northwest advertising agencies, including Seattle’s Cole & Weber.  While at agencies he acquired more than $20 million in new business from national and international companies, including Tektronix Information Displays, Louisiana-Pacific, Freightliner, Weyerhaeuser Company and Kenworth Trucks.



Mr. Shanklin also founded and ran a consulting firm providing market research, strategic planning, and product launch support.  His community involvement has included presidencies of the Leukemia Society (Washington/Alaska Chapter), Marketing CommunicationsExecutives International (MCEI) Puget Sound Chapter, and the American Marketing Association, Oregon Chapter.  Mr. Shanklin’s educational background includes a MBA.
