The Florida Festivals & Events Association is proud to once again present the Harvey Franklin Campbell Student Scholarship Award. The Scholarship will provide current students at Florida based Universities who are studying in an event management related program with the opportunity to attend the FFEA Annual Convention & Tradeshow, August 1-4 at the Omni Championsgate in Orlando, FL.

The students selected to receive this conference scholarship have the opportunity to:

  • Learn about the variety of careers available in the events industry
  • Attend informative presentations concerning current issues in event industry
  • Engage in discussions and network with event professionals from throughout the state
  • Participate in professional development workshops and numerous educational sessions

The scholarship covers:
1. Lodging for 3 nights at FFEA's conference hotel
2. Conference registration fee, which includes over 40 educational sessions, Tradeshow, & Entertainment Showcases
3. Complimentary ticket to the awards luncheon
4. A complimentary 1-year student membership in FFEA
*Recipients will be responsible for meals other than those included in conference registration, transportation to and from the hotel, and personal expenses. If additional funds become available, FFEA reserves the right to add additional scholarships for students which may include single day registration only or full registration without lodging.

Scholarship recipient must volunteer a minimum of 20 hours to assist in pre-conference planning and onsite conference logistics. Pre-conference planning volunteer hours may be done from student’s home location.

Application Requirements:
1. Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited institution of higher learning. An official transcript or degree audit must accompany the application.

2. Applicant must include a resume including any event related paid or volunteer experience.

3. Applicant must provide a response to the following (250 words or less per question):

  • Explain your interest in attending this conference.
  • Describe your involvement (if any) with special events and festivals to date or why you might want to become involved with FFEA.
  • Describe your future career goals.
  • Describe how you believe that your attendance at this conference will contribute to your future career in the event industry.

Christina Hernandez, University of Florida

Junior, Tourism, Recreation & Event Management

Christina Hernandez is a third year Tourism, Event, and Recreation Management major at the University of Florida. Originally from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Christina decided to pursue this career path after realizing her passion for business and planning. When she is not busy with her studies, Christina can be found teaching First Year Florida, an introductory seminar course for freshman and transfer students, as well as serving as an ambassador and mentor for her college. In her free time, Christina enjoys singing, traveling, and spending time with her family. This past summer, she had the opportunity to intern with the University of Florida’s Levin College of Law, where she was able to help in the coordination and execution of the department’s events. Upon graduation, Christina hopes to one day work as an event planner for a university department. 


 Danielle Pena, University of Florida

Junior, Tourism, Recreation & Event Management

My name is Danielle Pena. I am currently a third year at the University of Florida and my major is Event Management. I am an organized, driven, and goal oriented individual. I enjoy making lists and plans. My two biggest life passions are working with kids and sports. This semester I became a student intern/volunteer with the University Athletic Association's Marketing & Promotions. After I graduate I hope to stay in the South and work for sports organizations planning or coordinating their yearly events.


 Eliana Benevento, University of Central Florida

Junior, Event Management & Business Administration

Eliana just completed her second year at the University of Central Florida Rosen College of Hospitality Management, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Event Management and a minor in Business Administration. Eliana has maintained a place on the President's Honor Roll while being very involved on her campus. Recently, Eliana served as the Selections Director of the LEAD Scholars Academy, a prestigious program exclusive to UCF. Next year, Eliana will serve on the executive boards of Pegasus Palooza, UCF's official welcome week, as well as UCF Homecoming by planning large-scale events for the 60,000 student body. Additionally, Eliana was selected to be a member of the President's Leadership Council, an elite group of individuals who represent the University at a number of special events. This past year, Eliana volunteered at several community service events directly related to the Arts and Recreation social topic and participated in Knight-thon, one of the largest college dance marathons in the United States, which raised over $1 million dollars this year to benefit Children's Miracle Network.


Tiffani Jordan, University of Central Florida

Senior, Event Management

My name is Tiffani Jordan and I’m currently attending the University of Central Florida’s Rosen College of Hospitality Management. I’m expecting to graduate in December 2016 with a Bachelors in Event Management. In the past I have volunteered with Bonnaroo and Okeechobee Music Festivals, assisting with fan and media activities. At Okeechobee I gained a lot of experience working in the photo pit checking media credentials and assisting security with keeping fans and unauthorized individuals out of that area. I’m also currently working as both a Server and Sales Intern at Tin Roof Orlando and I am Food Handlers Certified.
