So you like craft beer, and you want to sample dozens of brews with some friends for a couple of hours… welcome to craft beer festivals! The rising popularity of local craft brews and breweries has fueled the interest in sampling events across the country. If you think your community would be a great place to host the next beerfest, this session will review a few facts you should know. What could be easier than getting a bunch of people together to try some good beer? Surprisingly, planning a good beer festival requires a massive amount of preparation. Whether you choose to go at it independently or with a professional beer festival planner, this session will answer all your questions.

Jim Barnes is Assistant Village Manager for the Village of Wellington. Mr. Barnes first joined Wellington as Assistant Director of Community Services and since then has served as Deputy Director of Environmental & Engineering Services, Parks & Recreation Director, Deputy Director of Operations, and Director of Operations. He is a credentialed manager by International City/County Managers Association, a certified planner with an advanced specialty certification in environmental planning by the American Institute of Certified Planners, and a certified parks and recreation professional by the National Recreation and Parks Association. He has over thirty years of experience in the public and private sectors in planning and local government administration.

Curt Foreman is the founder of BrewFest Partners, a firm specializing in consulting, planning, hosting, and managing beer festivals for organizations of all types in the U.S. Curt has over 30 years experience in event promotion and has successfully founded and managed numerous festivals and events including: Bonita Brew Fest, Ocean Brews & Blues, Deerfield Beach, FL; the Hofbrau Pop-up Biergarten in Mt. Pleasant, WI, Great Lakes Brew Fest in Racine, WI and Racine Harbor Fest. The Great Lakes Brew Fest is recognized as one of the premier beer tasting events in the Midwest attracting sell-out crowds of more than 4,000.
